Brand India Mission- Key Facts
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will launch Brand India Mission. The mission will be launched with an aim to promote the quality products which are manufactured in India.
Brand India mission
The mission will be launched to educate both the Indian and international consumers about the products which are made in India. The mission India’s leadership and its commitment to the quality of products. The Brand India Mission is being launched with the primary aim of increasing the local production. The initiative will provide tag to the manufactured goods which are produced in India. This mission has been launched on the basis of similar initiatives that were launched in Switzerland, United States, France and Germany.
How products will get the tag?
The manufactured goods need to comply with the health and safety standards prescribed by the ministry in order to get the tag. There is a provision that the goods should comprise of minimum of 20% of the local content in order to get the tag. Further, the companies need to have their headquarters with in India. After these standards are fulfilled by the company, the product will receive the Made in India tag. This certification process will be completed within 6 to 10 days.
Significance of the Mission
- This mission will boost the economic growth, exports and employment.
- It will focus on tyre and Rubber Industry ecosystem initially. The rubber plantations will be encouraged with the support of private investment.
- The mission will be an important building block of “New India” strategy of NITI Aayog.
New India Strategy
The New India Strategy was launched by NITI Aayog. Under it, the NITI aayog has put some goals that have to achieved by 2022. The Strategy has identified 41 different areas to be worked upon. The sectors include- growth, employment, Industry, Labour reforms, technology and innovation, doubling farmers income, financial inclusion, housing for all, minerals, energy, railways, Travel Tourism and Hospitality, surface transport, Shipping, inland waterways, logistics, Smart cities, Civil Aviation, digital connectivity and sustainable environment etc.
