BRO Constructs Strategic Daporijo Bridge in 27 Days

In recent news, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been recognized for successfully constructing the Daporijo Bridge over Subansiri River in Arunachal Pradesh. What makes this feat commendable is that they achieved it in a record span of just 27 days.

The Strategic Importance of the Daporijo Bridge

The Daporijo Bridge holds a great deal of strategic significance. It serves as a crucial link to roads leading up to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. This makes the bridge a vital asset for enhancing connectivity and cooperation between the two countries.

About Subansiri River

The Subansiri River, often referred to as the ‘Gold River,’ has its origins in the Tibet Plateau. From there, the riverflows into India, passing through the Miri hills of Arunachal Pradesh. The Subansiri River is recognized as the largest tributary of the Brahmaputra River.

The Role of Border Roads Organisation

The Border Roads Organisation was conceived and established in 1960 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru’s intention was to expedite the development of a comprehensive road network in the northern and north-eastern border regions of India. The BRO operates under the administrative authority of the Ministry of Defence.

The organisation symbolises nation-building and national integration and is perceived as an indispensable component in preserving the security and integrity of India. Over time, the BRO has expanded its scope of work, diversifying into various other sectors. These include airfield construction, building projects, defence works, and even tunneling.

The Border Roads Organisation has earned admiration from the people due to its persistent efforts to expand and maintain the country’s border roads. Its work is not just crucial for enhancing connectivity and cooperation with neighbouring countries, but also provides a sense of security to the inhabitants of those regions.

Despite the challenging nature of constructing bridges and roads in complex terrains, the Border Roads Organisation continuously strives to deliver high-quality results in efficient timeframes, as displayed by the construction of the Daporijo Bridge.
