Inner Mongolia, China, has recorded two cases of bubonic plague, caused by Yersinia pestis bacteria and primarily spread through fleas. Bubonic plague, also known as Black Death, results in swollen lymph nodes (buboes) and flu-like symptoms. Other plague types include Septicaemic and Pneumonic. It is transmitted via flea bites, contact with infected tissues, and inhalation of respiratory droplets. Bubonic plague can be treated with antibiotics, such as Ciprofloxacin and Doxycycline, but can be fatal if untreated.
