C-295MW

C-295MW

The Indian Air Force has taken delivery of its inaugural C-295MW transport aircraft from Airbus in Seville, Spain, marking a pivotal step in a significant fleet modernization effort. The C-295MW, designed for various military and logistical missions, will replace the aging Avro aircraft. Manufactured by Airbus, this aircraft can carry up to 71 troops or 50 paratroopers, enhancing military mobility. Notably, it includes indigenous radar warning and missile approach warning systems by Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) and a countermeasure dispensing system by Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL). A substantial portion of these aircraft will be produced in India through a joint venture with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL), with final assembly in Vadodara, Gujarat. The first Indian-manufactured aircraft is anticipated by September 2026, with a total of 56 aircraft to be delivered by August 2031.
