About the C40 Group
The C40 group was initiated in 2005 by Ken Livingstone, who was the Mayor of London at that time. The group obtained its name in 2006 when it had 40 members. Today, the group has expanded to include 96 members and represents over 70 crore people, accounting for a quarter of the global economy.
These member cities collaborate to deliver the urgent and essential climate actions necessary for securing a sustainable future for their urban populations. The group is dedicated to accomplishing the climate targets established in the 2016 Paris Agreement. It propels cities to develop and implement local plans in compliance with these international targets. The C40 group runs its operations from its offices located in New York, USA, and London, UK.
