The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given the green light for seven multi-tracking projects proposed by the Ministry of Railways. These projects promise to decongest the busiest sections of the Indian Railways, streamline operations, and accelerate infrastructural development.
The Impact of the New Projects
These initiatives will impact 35 districts across nine states, expanding the current railway network by 2,339 kilometers. They also promise to generate employment in these states, encompassing roughly 7.06 crore man-days. These routes are crucial for transporting a variety of commodities including food grains, fertilizers, cement, coal, crude oil, and more.
Aligning with National Goals
The projects align with national goals of nurturing climate, promoting regional self-reliance, and creating job opportunities through a versatile workforce. These initiatives are part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which aims to leverage seamless connectivity to facilitate the movement of people, goods, and services.
