The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has announced its membership in the steering group of the International Competition Network (ICN). This significant achievement comes after consistent efforts and was formalized at the ICN Annual Conference 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
Expanding International Participation
The ICN is a global organization consisting of 140 competition agencies representing 130 countries. It serves as a platform for competition authorities to maintain regular contacts and address practical competition concerns. The ICN is guided by its apex body, the Steering Group, which comprises 18 members.
A Milestone for CCI
This marks the first time that the CCI has been granted membership in the ICN’s Steering Group. The membership is valid for a two-year term, during which CCI will actively contribute to the network’s objectives and collaborate with competition authorities from around the world.
The ICN plays a crucial role in fostering international cooperation and promoting fair competition practices, and CCI’s inclusion in the Steering Group underscores its commitment to these objectives.
