The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting has announced that renowned actress Ms. Waheeda Rehman will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2021. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest recognition in the field of cinema, presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Recipients are acknowledged for their remarkable contributions to the growth of Indian cinema. The award includes a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees. It was established to commemorate Dadasaheb Phalke, the “father of Indian cinema,” with actress Devika Rani being the first recipient in 1969.
