Delhi Board Partners with IB for Global Education Standard

The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) recently sealed the deal with International Baccalaureate (IB) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This accord aims to integrate the IB curriculum in 30 government-run educational institutions. Among these schools, 20 will be newly established Schools of Specialised Excellence (SOSE). This initiative is set to bring international standard education facilities to governmental school students starting from 2021.

About International Baccalaureate (IB)

International Baccalaureate is a global, non-profit educational organization, founded to provide an education model suitable for a globalizing world to students between the ages of 3 to 19. This program, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, gives strong emphasis on personal student development alongside academic progression.

Offering four distinct education programs, all are meticulously designed to spur intellectual, emotional, personal, and social skills among students. The IB boasts a network of around 5000 schools internationally. In the context of India, 193 top-tier elite private schools currently fall under the directive of the IB program.

Understanding the Objectives of IB Programmes

The essence of integrating the IB programmes into the education system does not only aim at promoting academic brilliance but also intends to nurture critical thinking, and enhance problem-solving abilities among students. By pursuing an IB curriculum, students are encouraged to embrace diversity, cultivate curiosity, and maintain a healthy appetite for learning and the pursuit of excellence.

The Scope of Benefits

Students enrolled in schools under the purview of the MoU are set to reap substantial advantages. Firstly, they get access to high-quality education that supports the development of well-informed and inquisitive minds.

Secondly, the IB program ensures the facilitation of professional development. This encourages effective educators and paves the way for cooperative professional learning communities — a necessary framework for optimal student growth and academic evolution.

Lastly, students graduating under the joint certification of IB and DBSE will have ample opportunities to engage with a rapidly changing, increasingly globalized world. This combination of local and international knowledge prepares them for future global challenges.

The recent collaboration between the DBSE and the IB marks a significant milestone in optimising the quality of government-led education in Delhi. By opening doors to international standard facilities, this initiative ensures an enriched learning experience for students. Balanced with a focus on personal development and an international outlook, it equips young individuals to thrive in an interconnected world.
