The gig economy frames a free-market paradigm where temporary jobs are pervasive, and corporations hire independent workers for brief contract-driven tasks. Strikingly, gig economy-based companies are now responsible for generating an impressive 56% of new employment opportunities in India, incorporating both blue-collar and white-collar workers.

Factors Driving Growth in the Gig Economy

The gig economy’s exponential growth can be attributed to several factors. In the digital era, job location is unconfined. Workers can execute their tasks from anywhere, enabling the employers to invest in the best available talent devoid of geographical influences. This dynamic particularly appeals to the millennial workforce, who crave work that resonates with their personal interests rather than settling for unsatisfying traditional career paths.
