DRDO Celebrates 63rd Foundation Day

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) marked its 63rd Foundation Day on January 1, 2021. This milestone reflects the organisation’s enduring legacy and its pivotal role in bolstering India’s defence capabilities. Established in 1958, the DRDO began with a modest setup of just 10 laboratories. Over the years, it has grown into a massive network that spearheads research and development in the defence sector. The organisation is dedicated to creating advanced technology for the Indian armed forces, ensuring that they are equipped with the best tools to safeguard the nation.

Evolution of DRDO

From its inception with only a handful of labs, the DRDO has undergone significant transformation. It now operates more than 50 laboratories and establishments across India, engaging in diverse research areas. These include aeronautics, armaments, electronics, combat vehicles, engineering systems, missiles, advanced computing, simulation, and life sciences.
