FIDIC ASPAC 2019 Conference Held in New Delhi

An International Conference for Engineering Services is underway from 7th to 9th July 2019, held in the bustling city of New Delhi, India. Spearheaded by the Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI), this event marked as the FIDIC ASPAC 2019, is focusing on “Quality Infrastructure for Clean and Sustainable Development”.

About The International Federation of Consulting Engineers

Boasting a rich history since 1913, FIDIC is the global authority representing national associations of consulting engineers. Currently, it represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms from over 100 countries worldwide. Their primary role is to promote and implement strategic goals of the consulting engineering industry on behalf of its Member Associations while disseminating information and resources that interest its members.

The Role of ASPAC

ASPAC serves as the consulting engineering industry’s representative in the Asia and Pacific Region under FIDIC. With 22 member countries under its belt, its primary objective is to foster regional cooperation amongst member associations by sharing and enhancing knowledge about the varying infrastructure requirements of each country.

The Consulting Engineers Association of India acts as the pinnacle body of consulting engineers, having membership across India consisting of professional consulting engineering organizations and esteemed engineering consultants. It focuses on promoting professional interest and establishing rights and privileges of the consulting engineering profession in India. Registered under the Societies Act, it operates as a non-profit organization and serves as the Indian Member Association of FIDIC.

Union Budget Proposals for 2019-20

The 2019-20 Union Budget outlines an ambitious roadmap for infrastructural expansion in the country with a proposed investment of one lakh crore rupees over the next five years. Furthermore, an investment of Rs. 50 lakh crore has been proposed for the expansion and development of railways over the next decade. The budget also highlights incentives for the electric vehicles industry.

India has showcased impressive growth in the renewable energy sector, achieving 1200% growth in installed capacity of solar energy during the last five years. Additionally, it has become the largest user of LED bulbs due to technological advancements and manufacturing cost reductions. The number of households with access to LPG cylinders has almost doubled. As part of its future plan, the government intends to establish a national gas grid for delivering piped gas to all households in urban centers.
