Unexpected Discovery at Siri Fort
In an unexpected turn of events, during renovation works at Siri Fort Children’s Park in New Delhi, a tomb-like structure was found by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Although further excavation isn’t planned, the uncovered arched opening will be preserved as a learning tool for visitors, providing insights into the process of archaeological discovery.
Iran’s Claim of Hypersonic Missile Development
Rising geopolitical tensions have led to new developments in military technology. Iran, amidst strained relations with the United States over its nuclear program, has announced the development of a hypersonic missile. Named ‘Fattah’ or ‘Conqueror’ in Farsi, Iran claims this missile boasts a range of up to 1,400 kilometers and can travel 15 times the speed of sound. Although no evidence supports Iran’s claim that the missile can penetrate any regional missile defense system, the development of such high-speed weaponry underlines the looming arms race among global powers.
Cannabis Research Project’s Potential in Medicine
The ‘Cannabis Research Project’ undertaken by CSIR-IIIM (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine) in Jammu holds significant promise. It is believed that the project could lead to the production of export-quality medicine for conditions like neuropathies, cancer, and epilepsy. Additionally, this ambitious endeavor may also herald massive investments in Jammu and Kashmir’s scientific and economic domains. Cannabis, containing the psychoactive constituent Delta9 tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, has traditionally been an illicit drug. However, research into its potential medicinal use, including this project by CSIR-IIIM, is ushering in a new perspective on the widely cultivated plant.
