‘Fitness Ka Dose Aadha Ghanta Roz’ campaign- Key Facts

The campaign called “Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” that was called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been praised by World Health Organisation (WHO). This campaign was launched under the nation-wide Fit India Movement by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju. This campaign has received a wide support from the celebrities of different fields such as Bollywood, writers, sportspersons, doctors and fitness influences. All of them had urged the Indians to follow the basic mantra of 30 minutes of fitness on daily basis.

Fit India Movement

It is a nation-wide movement in India. The movement encourages the people to remain healthy and fit thorugh inclusion of physical activities and sports in their daily lives. The movement was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi Stadium on the occasion of National Sports Day on August 29, 2019. The Fir India Campaign also comprise of a “Fitness Pledge” that reads as – “I promise to myself that I will devote time for physical activity and sports every day and I will encourage my family members and neighbours to be physically fit and make India a fit nation”

Committee to advice government

A Fir India Committee has also been formed so as to advice the government on this campaign. The committee comprise of  various government officials, members of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), private bodies, national sports federations and fitness promoters.

Fit India

It was founded in the year 1993 by Shri Suparno Satpathy. It was later incorporated as a company in the year 2000.
