Hunar Haat event will restart after a gap of about seven months from November 11, 2020. The event was stopped amid the Corona pandemic.
Highlights
The Minority Affairs Minister, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, will inaugurate the event at Delhi Haat in Pitampura.The theme of this year’s event is “Vocal for Local”. In the event, indigenous exquisite products made up of Maati (clay), Metal and Machiya (wooden and jute products) will be showcased. The Hunar Haat will conclude on November 22, 2020.
Significance
Every part of the country has a traditional and ancestral legacy of indigenous products. But this legacy was on the verge of extinction. Now this tradition has got a boon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for Swadeshi or to be vocal for local. This will also strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission.
Hunar Haat
It is an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional products made by artisans from the minority communities. These events are organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The events are organized under Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTTAD) scheme.

The USTTAD scheme is aimed at promoting and preserving the rich heritage of the traditional arts and crafts of the minority communities.
Aim of the Haat
These Haats are aimed at providing market exposure and employment opportunities to artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts. The haat envisage to boost the skills of craftsmen, weavers and artisans who are engaged in traditional work. The Hunar Hatt works as the Empowerment Exchange for artisans and craftsmen.
