ICAT Develops ASPIRE to Boost India’s Automotive Industry

The International Centre of Automotive Technology (ICAT) is taking strides towards developing a ground-breaking technology platform for the automotive industry – ASPIRE, an acronym standing for Automotive Solutions Portal for Industry, Research, and Education. This move is expected to act as a catalyst in bolstering a robust and self-sufficient automotive industry in India, aligning with the government’s vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Insight into the ASPIRE Portal

This initiative is being carried out in line with the strategy conceived by the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI), operating under the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. The DHI’s role has been elemental in promoting innovation and laying down the foundation for building a robust ecosystem.

Objective

ASPIRE is aimed at augmenting the technological prowess of the Indian automotive industry through knowledge exchange and expertise sharing. This initiative is designed to propel the automotive industry towards self-reliance, thus aiding in its growth and contributing to the country’s overall socio-economic progress.

Functionality

ASPIRE will operate as a unifying platform for the Indian auto industry, R&D institutions, and academia, including colleges and universities, to collaborate in areas of research & development, technology evolution, resolving shop floor/quality/warranty issues, and obtaining expert opinions on technology advancement matters.

ASPIRE will also launch ‘grand challenges’ periodically, catering to the current needs of the industry and spurring the development of key automotive technologies.
