The Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) is an innovative web-based platform that works to integrate records from police, prisons, and courts for use by government bodies and policing agencies. Enabled by a One Time Password (OTP) for secure access, the ICJS amalgamates data from various sources to provide comprehensive profiles of suspects.
Expanding ICJS Data Fields
The system compiles detailed profiles containing information such as suspect photographs, state, religion, gender, nationality, age, type of crime involved in, marital status, drug addiction status, and biometric details. Further, the ICJS plans to enhance these profiles by incorporating social media profiles and records pertaining to immigration, prosecution, and those from the National Investigative Agency. This expansion aims to establish a “360 profile view” of the accused.
The Risk Score Concept
A pioneering feature proposed for the ICJS is the introduction of a “risk score,” a ranking algorithm designed to assess the threat level posed by an individual criminal. This feature will be immensely beneficial to the Ministry of Home Affairs, state governments, district authorities, and police stations as they could view risk statistics pertinent to their respective geographical areas.
Integration with CCTNS
In line with the ICJS, the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Project aims to interconnect approximately 15,000 police stations across India, along with an additional 5,000 offices for supervisory police officers. The principal objective of this project is to digitize records related to FIR registration, investigations, and charge sheets maintained at all police stations.
Promoting Science through the IISF
The India International Science Festival-2018 (IISF-2018), scheduled to take place in Lucknow, forms a crucial part of national efforts towards promoting science. The event will include a “science village” exhibit at the National Botanical Garden, where the public can learn about scientific progress. The festival’s motto is “Science for Transformation,” perfectly encapsulating its objective.
Striving for Cleanliness with SSG 2018
The Prime Minister recently recognized the top-ranked states and districts under the National Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 (SSG 2018) initiative. This event, commissioned by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, developed concise rankings for all Indian districts concerning sanitation parameters.
Addressing the Tobacco Problem
In recent news, India has jointly ranked fifth with Hong Kong and Thailand regarding pictorial health warnings on tobacco products. The evaluation was carried out by the Canadian Cancer Society in their report titled “The Cigarette Package Health Warnings: International Status Report.”
Loo Review Campaign:
An initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM – U), the Loo Review campaign encourages local guides across India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps. This campaign aims to involve and engage Local Guides in India and calls for public participation to improve hygiene levels across urban India.
