India Energy Week

India Energy Week

The India Energy Week, held from February 6th to 8th, is aimed at highlighting India’s growing significance as a leader in the transition to sustainable energy. With representatives from the energy sector, academia, and government coming together to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with the transition, this event is poised to set the tone for India’s energy future.

Inaugural Launch

The 2023 India Energy Week was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, who launched Indian Oil’s “Unbottled” initiative. This initiative aims to use recycled polyester and cotton to create uniforms for retail customer attendants and LPG delivery personnel. Indian Oil also rolled out its indoor solar cooking system for commercial use, providing a reliable and innovative cooking solution for the country.

Support from the Indian Government

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, the India Energy Week is the only international energy event that is supported at the highest level of the Indian government. With participation from all Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and officially supported by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), this event promises to be a comprehensive and all-encompassing representation of India’s energy sector.

India’s Growing Role in Global Energy Markets

As the country with the largest projected increase in energy demand over the next two decades, India’s energy transition will play a critical role in shaping global energy markets. With India projected to soon be the world’s most populous nation and a rapidly developing country, the importance of this event cannot be overstated.

Investments in India’s Energy Infrastructure

In line with the country’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, approximately $60 billion worth of investments are underway in India to set up the necessary infrastructure for a gas-based economy.

Critical Time for India’s Energy Future

The India Energy Week comes at a critical time, with the challenges of energy security and environmental sustainability impacting long-term energy transition and paths towards decarbonisation. As India accelerates its efforts towards a cleaner energy future, this event will provide a platform to discuss and explore the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre between February 6th and 8th, the India Energy Week is the first major event under India’s G20 Presidency. With support from the Indian government and the energy industry, this event promises to be a comprehensive and all-encompassing representation of India’s energy sector and its role in shaping the global energy landscape.
