India, France, UAE Trilateral Initiative

The India, France and UAE Trilateral Initiative was announced on Saturday to promote trilateral cooperation in the fields of defence, technology and energy. The three countries have created a comprehensive roadmap in this regard to further their cooperation.

Defence Cooperation:

One of the main focuses of the trilateral initiative is defence cooperation. The three countries aim to promote compatibility, joint development, and co-production of defence technologies. Additionally, the initiative will provide a platform for collaboration and training between their defence forces.

Energy Cooperation:

The trilateral initiative will also serve as a platform for cooperation in energy, particularly in solar and nuclear energy. The three countries aim to tackle the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity. They will explore the possibility of working with the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to pursue actionable projects on clean energy, the environment, and biodiversity.

Food Security and Circular Economy:

The three countries will also focus on food security and the circular economy. They will organize trilateral events in the framework of the Indian Presidency of the G20 and the UAE’s hosting of COP-28 in 2023. The trilateral initiative will serve as a platform to expand cooperation between development agencies of the three countries on sustainable projects and align their economic, technological, and social policies with the Paris climate agreement.

Fight against Infectious Diseases:

The three countries have also agreed to cooperate in the fight against infectious diseases and future pandemics. They will strengthen exchanges of views on emerging threats from infectious diseases and support the development of local capacities in biomedical innovation and production within developing countries.

The India, France and UAE Trilateral Initiative is an ambitious plan aimed at promoting cooperation in the fields of defence, energy, and technology. The three countries aim to tackle the challenges posed by climate change, biodiversity, and infectious diseases. With the support of trilateral events, the initiative will serve as a platform to expand cooperation and align their policies with the Paris climate agreement.
