India International Science Festival (IISF) 2020- Highlights

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a science festival- India International Science Festival (IISF) 2020 on December 22 through video conferencing. It is the 6^th edition of the festival and the event will be conducted from December 22 to 23.

• The main aim of the event is to celebrate the scientific and technological achievements of India with students and innovators.
• The ISSF 2020 is being conducted as a virtual event and all the attendees can attend the event by registering on the official website.
• The theme of the 6^th ISSF is ‘Science for Self-Reliant India and Global Welfare’.
• This virtual event will also show the attendees how STEM- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics play a major role in providing solutions in our lives.
• The 6th edition of IISF is being organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati.
• NISTADS i.e. CSIR-National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies is the nodal institution for the event for this year.

India International Science Festival (IISF)

IISF is an annual science event that is being conducted every year by Vijana Bharati in collaboration with various ministries. The first such science festival was held in the year 2015. Before this, the 1^st and 2^nd edition of IISF was held in New Delhi; 3^rd edition was held in Chennai; 4^th edition in Lucknow and 5^th edition in Kolkata.
