Both sides utilized this meeting to review the entire spectrum of their relationship, examining areas such as political ties, energy, trade, investment, defence, security, space, mining, Science & Technology, culture, and consular fields.

The countries’ relationship is backed by geographical proximity, historical maritime trade linkages, and cultural connections. The establishment of diplomatic relations was made in 1955, and it was upgraded to a Strategic partnership in 2008. Furthermore, Oman is an essential part of India’s West Asia Policy.

Frequent visits have been exchanged between both countries at the highest levels, underlining the importance of their relations. Oman is a strategic partner of India in the Gulf and plays a crucial role at various international bodies such as the GCC, Arab League, and IORA.

Annual reviews of their relations performed by the Defence Ministries of both countries under the Joint Military Cooperation Committee’s guidance have fostered ties. Regular biennial bilateral exercises between all three services have also been conducted.
