Indian Army Joins 15th NOMADIC ELEPHANT in Mongolia

The Indian Army has dispatched a 43-personnel contingent to Mongolia for the 15th edition of the joint military exercise, NOMADIC ELEPHANT-23. The scheduled event will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, commencing from the 17th to the 31st of July, 2023. This training affair is alternately held in India and Mongolia, strengthening India’s active participation in an annual week-long training exercise named Khaan Quest, hosted by Mongolia.

The bilateral exercise, NOMADIC ELEPHANT, aims to reinforce the defence relations between the two nations. The strong ties formed through such collaborations are crucial in maintaining peace and stability, indicative of the shared strategic interests and responsive mutual cooperation. Coming on the heels of the recent celebration for the 120th birth anniversary of Thiru Kumaraswami Kamaraj, this endeavor aligns with the spirit of unity and perseverance that he symbolized.

Thiru Kumaraswami Kamaraj: A Tribute to his Contributions

Known for his significant contributions to India’s development, Thiru K. Kamaraj made his mark as a freedom fighter, politician, and social reformer. Alongside his political career, he was renowned for his commitment to education and poverty alleviation, introducing initiatives that provided free textbooks, uniforms, midday meals, and scholarships for underprivileged students in Tamil Nadu. His multi-faceted service earned him the highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, bestowed upon him posthumously in 1976.

World Snake Day: Celebrating and Protecting Snakes

World Snake Day, celebrated on July 16, 2023, is an initiative by the National Zoological Park aimed at driving awareness about the importance of snakes in the Indian ecosystem. Home to over 300 snake species, with 60 being venomous, India places significant emphasis on understanding, appreciating, and preserving these creatures. The campaign also focuses on educating the public about the Big 4 species, responsible for most snake bites in India, namely Russell’s viper, common Indian Cobra, common krait, and saw-scaled viper.
