A Glimpse Into Operation Trident
Operation Trident was a critical counter-offensive launched by the Indian Navy against the Karachi harbour during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971. This operation holds special significance for being the first instance where India successfully used anti-ship missiles in combat. The primary target of this operation was the Pakistani destroyer ship, PNS Khaibar, which was completely destroyed in the attack.
It’s important to note that three Indian warships – INS Nipat, INS Nirghat, and INS Veer – played a seminal role in the success of this military endeavour. Their strategic manoeuvering and superior firepower were instrumental in achieving the mission objectives without incurring significant losses.

MARCOS: The Navy’s Elite Special Forces
The Marine Commandos, popularly known as MARCOS, represent the Indian Navy’s special force unit. They are trained in a variety of combat operations, including amphibious warfare, counter-terrorism, special reconnaissance, hostage rescue, and asymmetric warfare. Notably, they were among the first responders to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, bravely combating the terrorists and minimising civilian casualties.
