Exercise MILAN 2024: A Step Forward for the Indian Navy

Initiating in 1995 with the participation of merely four countries, MILAN (Multilateral Naval Exercise) has risen to prominence with its increasing number of participants and complexity of exercises. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) conducted the Mid Planning Conference (MPC) of MILAN 24, which is slated to be hosted by the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam in February 2024. Originally conceived along with India’s ‘Look East Policy,’ MILAN has expanded over the following years in alignment with India’s ‘Act East policy,’ including participation from nations in the Western IOR (Indian Ocean Region) as well.

United Nations’ 78th Anniversary: A Global Celebration

On October 24th, 2023, the world observed the 78th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), commemorating the enactment of the UN Charter in 1945. The predecessor of the UN, the League of Nations, was founded under the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 with the intention of promoting international cooperation and maintaining peace and security. The UN consists of six principal organs established in 1945, contributing towards promoting an understanding of the UN’s goals and achievements.

Exercise Harimau Shakti 2023: India-Malaysia Defense Collaboration

Commenced at Umroi Cantonment, Exercise Harimau Shakti 2023 is a joint bilateral training exercise involving India and Malaysia. It features a Battalion of the Rajput Regiment from the Indian contingent and the Malaysian Army’s 5th Royal Battalion. The exercise highlights the deepening defense cooperation between the two armies, thus enhancing their bilateral relations.

National Cooperative Exports Limited: A Rising Star

The National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), an umbrella organization for cooperative sector exports, has made significant headway with orders worth Rs 7,000 crore. Approximately 50% of export profits are expected to directly benefit farmers through the NCEL. The NCEL aims to increase exports, benefit the farmer, alter the crop pattern, provide a global market for organic products, secure a place for India in the global market for biofuel, and strengthen the cooperative sector.
