India’s PM Inaugurates First National Training Conclave

The Indian Prime Minister recently inaugurated the first-ever National Training Conclave at the International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. As a noteworthy event, PM emphasized upon Jan Bhagidari (People’s Participation) and its significance concerning the Swachh Bharat Mission and Amrit Sarovar. Furthermore, he shed light on the iGOT Karmayogi platform that provides training opportunities for government personnel at all levels.

Understanding the National Training Conclave

The conclave is an integral part of the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) – ‘Mission Karmayogi’. It’s being organized by the Capacity Building Commission, which was constituted in 2021. Its primary duties involve facilitating the preparation of Annual Capacity Building plans across various departments, ministries, and agencies.

The participants include civil servants from local, state, and central government departments. In addition to these, experts from the private sector are also anticipated to contribute their insights during the deliberations.

Aims and Objectives of the Conclave

The principal objective of the conclave is to promote collaboration among civil services training institutes and bolster the training infrastructure for civil servants nationwide. This initiative aims to bring together diverse perspectives and aid in creating more impact-oriented policies.

Key Focus Areas

The Conclave will involve eight-panel discussions, each addressing crucial issues relating to Civil services training institutes. Some of these include faculty development, training impact assessment, and content digitisation. These panel discussions aim to discuss, debate, and eventually address key challenges that the training institutes face.

What is Mission Karmayogi?

Under the umbrella of NPCSCB, Mission Karmayogi aims to transform capacity-building within the Indian bureaucracy through institutional and process reforms. It seeks to equip Indian civil servants with creativity, constructiveness, imagination, innovation, proactiveness, professionalism, progressiveness, energy, transparency, and technological aptitude. It is an initiative that intends to prepare the civil servants for the future by making them more effective in their roles.

The iGOT- Karmayogi Platform: An Overview

The iGOT Karmayogi is an online learning platform designed as an integral part of the Digital India initiative. Its primary function is to build the capacity of all government employees. The platform offers ‘anytime-anywhere-any device’ learning and aims to train about 2.0 crore users, a feat previously unachievable through traditional means.

As we understand the importance of these initiatives, it’s crucial to mention that they are pivotal towards building a robust civil service system in India. By engaging and training civil servants, these initiatives aim to equip them with the necessary skills to meet the ever-evolving demands of public service.
