Infantry Day is celebrated to commemorate this first Indian military event.
On 26th October in the year 1947, Hari Singh, then Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, signed a membership document with the Indian government. The certificate of acquisition is a legal document introduced by the Government of India Act of 1935. After independence, it was used to allow the rulers of the princely state to join the countries of India or Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir signed a membership document with India, so it falls under Indian control. Previously, on 22nd October, 1947, Pakistan sent thousands of soldiers and volunteers to Jammu and Kashmir to forcibly seize the country. This is why Hari Singh signed the accession document with India. According to the certificate of accession, India sent troops to confront Pakistan on 27th October 1947.
