The Jal Shakti Ministry entered into an agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the government of Denmark to provide tap water connections to 11 water-scarce districts in Uttar Pradesh.

- As per the agreement, UP’s water-starved Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions will be helped to get tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan mission.

Jal Jeevan Mission
The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched in the year 2019 on August 15. The mission is aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water by individual household tap connections. The mission also seeks to provide tap water connections to all the rural households across India by the year 2024. The programme also implements the source sustainability measures like recharge & reuse through greywater management, rainwater harvesting and water conservation as mandatory elements. The mission is based on the community approach to water. The key component of the mission also includes extensive Information, Education, and communication.
