Maritime Infrastructure Perspective Plan

Maritime Infrastructure Perspective Plan

The Minister of State for Defence has launched the Maritime Infrastructure Perspective Plan (MIPP) 2023-37 during the Naval Commanders Conference. The MIPP aims to align India’s naval infrastructure requirements with a 15-year comprehensive perspective plan. It adheres to government visions for sustainable infrastructure, PM Gati Shakti project compliance, disaster resilience, and the transition to net zero. This launch also included the revised Indian Register for Shipping (IRS) rules and regulations handbook. India, as a maritime nation, faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, connectivity, skill gaps, environmental concerns, and security challenges. Strengthening maritime security and infrastructure development are vital for India’s growth and security in a changing geopolitical landscape.
