The Ministry of Ayush has recently hit the headlines with their latest initiative called ‘Ayush Aahaar’. Implemented at their canteen in Ayush Bhawan situated in Delhi, this move is designed to promote a nutritional diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Understanding ‘Ayush’
The term ‘Ayush’ refers to traditional and non-conventional systems of healthcare and healing. This umbrella-phrase incorporates disciplines such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy. The Indian systems of medicine are esteemed for their diversity, flexibility, affordability, and broad acceptance by a large segment of the public. Their comparatively lower cost and growing economic value position them as potential providers of healthcare services much sought-after by our society.
Key Initiatives by the Ayush Ministry
One of the notable initiatives of the Ayush Ministry is the National Ayush Mission. This centrally sponsored scheme is facilitated through States/Union Territories for the development and promotion of the Ayush system of medicine. It has been decided that the mission will continue till 2026.
The “Aahaar Kranti” Mission
Another initiative, the Aahaar Kranti Mission, is committed to spreading awareness about nutrition’s importance.
New Portals in the Ayush Sector
In step with the digital age, the Ayush sector has introduced five new portals. The CTRI or Clinical Trial Registry of India portal, RMIS or Research Management Information System, SAHI (Showcase of Ayurveda Historical Imprints), AMAR (Ayush Manuscripts Advanced Repository), and e-Medha (electronic Medical Heritage Accession) are the latest additions to the Ayush digital portfolio.
The ACCR Portal and Ayush Sanjivani App
The Ayush Clinical Case Repository Portal, another modern initiative, is designed to demonstrate the efficacy of Ayush systems for treating various disease conditions.
In line with this, the third version of the AYUSH Sanjivani App has also been launched. This application will assist in studying and documenting the effectiveness of selected Ayush interventions. This includes Ayush 64 and Kabasura Kudineer medicines management strategies for asymptomatic and mild to moderate Covid-19 patients.
These innovative steps taken by the Ministry of Ayush mark a significant stride towards blending traditional healthcare methods with modern-day digital tools for a comprehensive health care solution. The Aahaar initiative and the introduction of new digital portals testify to the ministry’s commitment to promoting healthy living while making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
