Modi Praises Women’s Empowerment Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed a rally in Nashik. He brought into light the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ aimed at empowering underprivileged women in Maharashtra. This scheme, part of the Mahayuti government’s agenda, has gained important attention. Modi’s remarks come ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, emphasising his government’s commitment to women’s welfare and farmer support.

Overview of ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’

The ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ was launched in June 2024. It offers a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 to women aged 21 to 65. Eligibility is based on an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh. The scheme aims to uplift women from economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced plans to increase the stipend to Rs 2,100 if the coalition retains power.

Criticism of Opposition

Modi accused the opposition, particularly the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), of being against women’s empowerment. He claimed that the MVA’s opposition to the scheme demonstrates their lack of support for women’s issues. Modi described the MVA as the “biggest enemy” of women in Maharashtra.

Commitment to Farmers

The Prime Minister also addressed farmer welfare. He mentioned various schemes providing financial support to farmers. Under the PM Shetkari Yojana, farmers receive Rs 12,000 annually. Modi promised an increase to Rs 15,000 if the Mahayuti government is re-elected. He brought into light initiatives to improve onion export policies, benefiting local farmers.

Development Initiatives in Nashik

Modi spoke about Nashik’s role in the Mahayuti government’s development plans. He mentioned the upcoming 2026 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The Prime Minister noted Nashik’s potential as a defence equipment manufacturing hub. He urged local OBC communities to remain united against divisive politics.

Infrastructure and Economic Growth

The Prime Minister brought into light ongoing infrastructure projects. He pointed out that the MVA has opposed several key development initiatives, including the Atal Setu and metro projects. Modi emphasised the importance of these projects for Maharashtra’s economic growth.
