National Ayush Mission – Transforming Healthcare in India

The National Ayush Mission (NAM) is initiative by the Government of India aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery through traditional systems. Recently, the Ministry of Ayush launched a film series titled Ayush for All – Holistic Health Care through National Ayush Mission. This series showcases the achievements and impact of NAM across the nation. The initiative aims to ensure equitable and affordable healthcare for all citizens, especially those in remote areas.

Overview of the National Ayush Mission

The National Ayush Mission was established as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. Its primary objective is to strengthen Ayush healthcare services. Co-location initiatives have benefitted 2322 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 715 Community Health Centres (CHCs), and 314 District Hospitals (DHs) annually.

The mission places a strong emphasis on enhancing education and research in Ayush. NAM has supported the establishment of 16 new Ayush educational institutions. Furthermore, it has upgraded 112 existing institutions to improve the quality of education.

Community Health Initiatives

NAM has established 3883 Yoga Wellness Centres and 1055 Ayush Grams across the country. Additionally, it has set up 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) facilities. These initiatives promote holistic wellness and preventive healthcare.

Impact on Rural and Underserved Populations
