National Carbon Registry

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has introduced open-source software for efficiently managing national data and processes related to trading carbon credits. This software, known as the National Carbon Registry, has received accreditation as a digital public good (DPG). Being open-source, it enables countries to customize and implement the system according to their unique requirements, potentially reducing production costs and implementation timeframes. The National Carbon Registry adheres to global best practices, aligning with organizations such as the UNDP, World Bank, UNFCCC, and EBRD. UNDP, as the UN’s primary development agency, operates in 170 countries, focusing on sustainable development, governance, peacebuilding, and climate resilience.
