National Super Computer Mission

The Union Cabinet has sanctioned ₹14,903 crore for extending the Digital India initiative, including the addition of nine new supercomputers under the National Super Computer Mission. Launched in 2015, the Mission aims to provide advanced computing infrastructure to cater to computational needs across academia, research, MSMEs, and startups. Spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), the mission’s objectives encompass making India a global leader in High-Performance Computing (HPC), empowering scientists with cutting-edge computing resources, avoiding redundancy, and fostering self-reliance in HPC.
