Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot will release the third edition of the Indian Sign Language (ISL) Dictionary on February 18, 2021. The 3rd edition of the ISL dictionary will be released in a virtual event.

- The dictionary also includes the regional signs used in various parts of the country.
- The ISL dictionary has been brought out by the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC).
- As per the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the second edition of the ISL dictionary was released in the year 2019 and had 6,000 terms.
- The first edition of the ISL dictionary had 3,000 terms and was released in the year 2018.
ISLRTC
ISLRTC is an institute under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. ISLRCTC got its establishment approval in New Delhi in the year 2015. However, before this, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment approved the establishment of the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center (ISLRTC) as an autonomous center of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Delhi. The centre was closed in 2013.
