The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) along with Amazon Web Service (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon, announced the establishment of Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Centre (CIC). This venture marks the first of its kind in India and seeks to provide on-demand cloud computing platforms and API’s to individuals, companies, and governments, based on a metered pay-as-you-go basis.
Introduction to CIC
The Frontier Technologies CIC is a part of the AWS CIC Global Program. This global initiative offers a platform for government agencies, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions to unite on critical issues. The program encourages the application of design thinking, the testing of new ideas, and allows access to the technical expertise of AWS.
Role and Function of Frontier Technologies CIC
The role of the Frontier Technologies CIC will include identifying and prioritizing projects. It would also collaborate with local leaders, including subject matter experts at state and district levels, to solve critical challenges. This is an effort aimed at exploring the potential of local enterprises, start-ups, researchers, and universities in India. This new establishment allows the said entities to experiment and build prototypes on the AWS Cloud.
