Northwest Delhi Launches ‘Nanhi Pari’ Girl Child Program

The ‘Nanhi Pari’ Programme has been recently introduced by the Northwest Delhi district administration, making news all over. This scheme is set out to offer a comprehensive solution to parents, eliminating their need to visit various offices for important documents.

About Nanhi Pari Programme

The ‘Nanhi Pari’ programme is an initiative that aims to provide all necessary services and documentations for newborn girls born in government hospitals within the district, before the mother and child are discharged. The essential services encompass the provision of a birth certificate, Aadhaar card registration, and opening a bank account for the baby girl.

Objectives of the Programme

The primary objective of this initiative lies in the protection of the birth of a girl child, along with providing her a secure environment and education. The programme envisions the completion of registrations for schemes benefitting girl children and mothers including the Sukanya Samriddhi Account scheme, the Ladli scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, at the hospital itself. The endeavours extend beyond ensuring that these schemes reach their intended beneficiaries, to promoting institutional deliveries, thereby protecting the interests of the girl child.

Significance of the Scheme

The Nanhi Pari programme simplifies the process of availing benefits of these schemes for every child and mother. Parents will no longer have to juggle between different offices to avail themselves of these essential schemes. It reduces the burden of paperwork and formalities, making the entire process easier and efficient.

Understanding Institutional Delivery

Institutional delivery refers to childbirth in a medical establishment under the comprehensive supervision of trained and competent health personnel. It speaks to the availability of facilities and amenities to handle emergency situations and save the lives of the mother and child. This also ensures a safer birthing option compared to home deliveries due to the availability of immediate medical intervention when needed.

Other Related Initiatives

Apart from the Nanhi Pari programme, there are several other initiatives directed towards the safety and wellbeing of mothers and children. These include the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), LaQshya (Labour room Quality Improvement Initiative), and Poshan Abhiyaan. All these programs are designed with a specific focus on the health and welfare of mothers and babies during and after childbirth, thereby further enhancing the overall maternal healthcare system in the country.

The recently introduced ‘Nanhi Pari’ Programme by the Northwest Delhi district administration is an exemplary effort towards providing a one-stop solution for parents, majorly reducing the difficulties experienced by them in obtaining necessary official documents and services. It is hoped that this initiative will significantly contribute to the development of a safe, secure and nurturing environment for every girl child born in the region.
