P-7 Heavy Drop Parachute System

The P-7 Heavy Drop Parachute System, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has received a significant bulk order, strengthening the armed forces’ paradropping capabilities. This military parachute system, weighing around 500 kg, facilitates the airdrop of heavy equipment, vehicles, and supplies in challenging conditions. It features eight main canopies, three extractor parachutes, one drogue parachute, and various advanced systems. With a maximum load-bearing capacity of 8,500 kg and compatibility with aircraft like the C-17 and C-130, it offers enhanced operational versatility. The system is reusable up to five times, making it a valuable asset for the armed forces.
