PDS Supply Chain Optimisation Initiatives Launched

The launch of the ‘Anna Chakra’ and SCAN portal marks advancement in the Public Distribution System (PDS) in India. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of the PDS logistics network. Anna Chakra – Supply Chain Optimisation Tool

The objective function, measured in quantity-distance (QKM), has been reduced by 58 crores. The optimisation effort encompasses 4.37 lakh Fair Price Shops and approximately 6,700 warehouses. This leads to lower fuel consumption and reduced logistics costs.

Environmental Benefits

The route optimisation also has environmental advantages. It aims to lower the carbon footprint by reducing transportation-related emissions. This is crucial for sustainable practices within the food distribution sector.

Integration with Existing Platforms

The interstate route optimisation tool integrates with the Freight Operations Information System of the Railways. This is part of the Unified Logistics Interface Platform. Additionally, it connects with the PM Gati Shakti platform, which maps the locations of Fair Price Shops and warehouses.

SCAN Portal for Subsidy Claims

The SCAN portal allows states to submit subsidy claims through a single window. It streamlines the claim scrutiny and approval process. This portal automates the workflow for subsidy release and settlement. It enhances transparency and efficiency in the subsidy system for the National Food Security Act.
