PM Celebrates Gandhi’s 150th with Einstein Challenge, Stamp Release

Swachh Bharat Diwas 2019 is an event that took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister who took part in various activities and achievements to make this occasion a memorable one.

Commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary

One of the highlights of the event was the release of a postage stamp and silver coin in honor of Mahatma Gandhi. This was not the only way the Mahatma was remembered during the event. The United Nations had also previously released a postal stamp on Gandhi, further emphasizing his global impact and legacy.

The Einstein Challenge

In a move to encourage innovation in the propagation of Gandhi’s ideas, the Prime Minister of India introduced the “Einstein Challenge.” This challenge gets its name from Albert Einstein’s famous words about Gandhi, which are, “Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.” The challenge invites thinkers, entrepreneurs, and tech leaders to develop forward-thinking ways of spreading Gandhi’s ideas to future generations.

Station Cleanliness Survey 2019

In line with the celebration of Swachh Bharat Divas 2019, the Ministry of Railways released the Station Cleanliness Survey 2019. The purpose of this survey was to identify how well railway stations around the country were maintaining cleanliness.

Rajasthan’s Jaipur station and Maharashtra’s Andheri Station Stay at Top

According to the survey results, Rajasthan’s Jaipur station topped the list of cleanest railway stations in India in the non-suburban group of stations. On the other hand, Maharashtra’s Andheri station emerged top among the suburban group of stations. Further, as a testament to their consistent efforts in maintaining cleanliness standards, the North Western Railway Zone received the award for the cleanest railway zone in 2019.
