PM Inaugurates Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, Launches ULLAS App

The Prime Minister of India has recently spearheaded a two-day event known as Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam. The occasion was organized to commemorate the National Education Policy’s (NEP) third year. In addition, the Union Minister of Education launched the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram mobile app.

At the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, the PM released the first installment of funds under the PM SHRI Scheme. This initiative aids in the creation of schools that promote active, productive, and contributing citizens, echoing the NEP 2020 vision. Furthermore, the PM unveiled educational and skill curriculum books translated into 12 Indian languages. This move encourages learning by enabling students to study in their native language.

ULLAS, standing for Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society, is a ground-breaking initiative introduced by the Indian government. It aims to foster lifelong learning and address the disparities in fundamental literacy and essential life skills among citizens aged 15 years and older. The program equips individuals with vital knowledge and abilities for personal and national growth. The ULLAS User-Friendly Mobile Application acts as a digital entryway to a wealth of learning resources through the DIKSHA portal.

The ULLAS program emphasizes lifelong learning, nurturing a culture of information-sharing and individual progress. It equips participants with digital literacy skills and fosters financial awareness and empowerment. Moreover, ULLAS rewards student volunteers with credits in schools or universities, commendations via certificates, letters, and recognitions.

There are multiple government initiatives parallel to the educational reforms. These include the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan PRAGYATA, Mid Day Meal Scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PM SHRI Schools, and UPSC Civil Services Examination.
