PM Modi to Inaugurate 511 Rural Skill Development Centers in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in Maharashtra through a video conference. These centers will be established across 34 rural districts in the state and will play a pivotal role in conducting skill development training programs covering various sectors. The primary objective is to create employment opportunities for rural youth.

Training and Partnerships

Each of these Kendras will provide training for approximately 100 young individuals in at least two vocational courses. These training programs will be conducted in collaboration with empaneled industry partners and agencies associated with the National Skill Development Council.

Empowering Rural Communities

The establishment of these Kendras is expected to make significant contributions to the development of a more skilled and competent workforce in the region. This initiative is in line with Prime Minister Modi’s focus on skill development as a critical area for fostering economic growth.

Addressing Rural Migration

Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the Maharashtra State Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, emphasized the importance of these skill development centers. He noted that previously, there were no skill development centers in 28,000 gram panchayats in Maharashtra. The implementation of these centers aims to discourage youth from migrating to urban areas in search of employment. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the number of such centers will increase in the future.

Honoring Pramod Mahajan

The program is named after the late Pramod Mahajan, a prominent BJP national leader, in recognition of his contributions and legacy in the field of skill development and rural empowerment.
