Prime Minister Unveils Development Projects Worth Rs 12,100 Crores in Varanasi

In a significant move towards the development of his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, the Prime Minister of India recently unveiled a series of ambitious projects worth Rs 12,100 crores. These initiatives span various sectors and reflect the government’s commitment to transforming the city and fostering growth in key areas such as infrastructure, education, and more. The Prime Minister’s emphasis on schemes addressing ground realities and gathering feedback from beneficiaries demonstrates a proactive approach to ensure effective implementation and positive outcomes.

Enhancing Connectivity: Dedicated Freight Corridor and Railway Projects

One of the major highlights of the development projects is the launch of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction-Son Nagar railway line of the Dedicated Freight Corridor. With an estimated cost of over Rs 6,760 crore, this new railway line will facilitate faster and more efficient movement of goods. The Prime Minister’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and improving logistics infrastructure is evident through this initiative. It will not only boost trade and commerce in the region but also contribute to the overall economic growth of the country.

Foundation Stone Laying for Various Projects

During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for multiple railway projects that will further augment the transportation network in Varanasi and its surrounding areas. Additionally, the construction and renovation of 15 Public Works Department (PWD) roads, 192 rural drinking water schemes, and the redesigning and redevelopment of Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats were announced. These projects will have a significant impact on the lives of the people by improving connectivity, providing clean drinking water, and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the city.

Empowering Citizens: Distribution of Loans, Housing, and Healthcare

In line with the government’s commitment to empowering citizens, the Prime Minister initiated the distribution of loans under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to street vendors and enable them to sustain their livelihoods. Additionally, the distribution of keys to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Rural houses and Ayushman Bharat cards will contribute to providing affordable housing and healthcare access to the deserving beneficiaries.

Vande Bharat Express: A Symbol of Progress

Highlighting the achievements in the railway sector, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the Vande Bharat Express. He informed the gathering that the train is currently running on 25 routes within a short span of four years. Notably, Varanasi holds the distinction of being the city where the country’s first Vande Bharat Express was launched. To further enhance connectivity, the Prime Minister announced the flagging off of two new Vande Bharat Express trains from Gorakhpur, a city neighboring Varanasi.
