The Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad has been renamed to Narendra Modi stadium, after the prime minister. This stadium was refurbished and inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Australian architect firm Populous is the architect of the new stadium. The firm has also designed the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. The stadium has 11 pitches made of both red and black soil and is the only stadium in the world to have the same soil surfaces for the main and practice pitches.
