The latest exercise, which focused on curbing the misuse of the Internet for promoting violence and extremism, was hosted by India. With its fast-growing digital space often being leveraged for illicit activities, India played a significant role in orchestrating the drill. The exercise provided the country with an opportunity to use its prowess in information technology to develop effective mechanisms for combating online radicalization and terrorism.

Established in 2001, the SCO is a permanent international organization created with the objective of fostering a democratic, fair, and rational global political and economic order. The SCO Charter, which underpins the organization’s philosophical foundation and operational framework, was signed in 2002 and came into force in 2003, setting forth the principles, purposes, and key areas of cooperation among member states.
Membership of the SCO
The membership of the SCO is comprised of nine countries: Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan and Iran.
