Janapadas

Janapadas were ancient Indian states or regions. They emerged around the 6th century BCE. Each Janapada had its own governance and social structure. They were often centred around cities or towns. Agriculture and trade flourished in these areas. The Janapadas contributed to the development of early Indian culture. They played a role in the formation of political entities in India.
