Lord Mayo

Lord Mayo was the Viceroy of India from 1869 to 1872. He was known for his administrative reforms. Mayo focused on improving education and infrastructure. He promoted the development of railways and telegraphs. His tenure saw the introduction of the Mayo College in Ajmer. Tragically, he was assassinated in 1872. His death marked a moment in British India’s history.
