A stealth frigate named Tushil has been launched. A frigate is a warship with a mixture of weapons and heavier in comparison to a destroyer. Tushil is a Sanskrit word for protective shield. This frigate has been built by Russia.

The Tushil is the seventh frigate in the Indian Navy launched in the month of October 2021. The other six are INS Trishul, INS Talwar, INS Teg, INS Tabar, INS Trikand and INS Tarkash. It was launched at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia and belongs to class P1135.6. Also known as the Talwar class. The Talwar-class frigate was built by Russia for the Indian Navy. The Tushil is one of two ships Russia built for India in the year 2016. The other is called INS Tamala. A contract has been signed between Russia and Goa Shipyard in India to build these ships. Tushil can fill all three dimensions of sub surface, surface and air. May carry both Russian as well as Indian sensors and weapons. This ship also has stealth technology.
It can be used both on the ocean and on the coast. Tushil is equipped with Indian equipment such as surface-to-ground missiles, sonar systems, surface surveillance radar, communications suites, ASW systems, surface-to-air missiles as well as gun mounts.
Features
Anti-submarine helicopters can be accommodated in this frigate. It is equipped with a vertical missile launcher. There are surface exploration radar and aerial exploration radar. It also has a fire control system that can detect fires up to 60 kilometers. APSOH sonar is mounted on the hull. APSOH is an advanced panoramic sonar hull. Useful for passive listening and active distance. It is equipped with the RPK8 system. RPK8 is a rocket launcher used for anti-submarine defense whose firing range is between 4300 to 600 metres.
Tushil also has a Close in Weapon System (CIWS). It is a point defense weapon system which is used to destroy incoming short-range missiles. In addition, CIWS can destroy enemy aircraft. The ship uses the electricity generated at the gas turbine power plant. This power plant is fitted with two engines. Each engine runs at 9,000 HP or 6,700 kW. The reverse output of the motor is 1,500 HP or 1,100 kW.
