On the occasion of the UN International Day of the Girl Child, an online program organized by UNICEF marked a significant milestone in India’s education landscape. The Passport to Earning (P2E) initiative, aimed at providing vital skills and certifications to young people, celebrated having certified one million learners.
Empowering India’s Youth
UNICEF’s global initiative, Passport to Earning (P2E), has successfully equipped over one million young people in India with essential skills in financial literacy and digital productivity. This milestone represents a substantial step towards preparing them for the evolving job market and life challenges. Importantly, 62 percent of the beneficiaries are adolescent girls and young women, emphasizing the program’s gender-inclusive impact.
Alignment with National Education Policy
In India, P2E is closely aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It offers free access to certificate courses in digital productivity, financial literacy, employability skills, and other job-ready competencies. The program accommodates various learning models, including online, hybrid, and offline methods, making it accessible to a wide range of learners.
The Road to Financial Independence
The P2E digital learning platform has an ambitious goal: to provide long-term, sustainable skilling for five million young people aged 14 to 29 in India by 2024. Beyond skill acquisition, the program aims to connect these young individuals with opportunities in jobs, self-employment, and entrepreneurship. By doing so, P2E plays a vital role in promoting financial independence among India’s youth.
