Who is known as father of Indian Pre-History?

Robert Bruce Foote (1834-1912), a British geologist and archaeologist, is known as the father of India’s prehistory. In 1863, while working for the Geological Survey of India, Foote discovered Paleolithic stone tools at Pallavaram near Chennai. This discovery provided the first concrete evidence of prehistoric cultures in India. Foote went on to survey other Stone Age sites across South India over the next few decades, laying the early foundations for the study of India’s prehistory.
