Every year on April 10, ‘World Homeopathy Day’ is observed globally to honor the birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy. In 2019, the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) organized a two-day international convention from April 9-10. The event took place at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, India.
Theme and Awards
The theme for the convention was “Linking Education and Clinical Practice with Research: Advancing Scientific Collaborations.” As part of the celebrations, AYUSH awards were given out in various categories such as Life Time Achievement, Best Teacher, Young Scientist and Best Research Paper in Homoeopathy. In addition, twenty-four students received the Short Term Studentship in Homoeopathy (STSH), and four students were recognized for their ‘Quality MD Dissertation in Homoeopathy’.
Memorandum of understanding
In an effort to strengthen the bond between education and research, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with two more PG Homoeopathic Colleges during the convention.
Discussion Topics
A variety of subjects were addressed at the convention. These included linking education and clinical practice with research, homoeopathic education and its research component, utilization of existing research by clinicians, drug development and validation, and research initiatives by students.
About the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy
The CCRH operates under the Ministry of AYUSH. It is an autonomous research organization with a mission to conduct scientific and ethical research that improves the success rate of clinical practice, promotes safe, efficient, and effective treatment in health care delivery, and ensures global acceptance of Homoeopathy.
Homoeopathy Explained
The term ‘Homoeopathy’ originates from two Greek words, ‘Homois’ meaning similar and ‘pathos’ meaning suffering. The method involves treating diseases with remedies prescribed in minute doses that are capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when healthy people ingest them. This system is based on the natural law of healing- “Similia Similibus Curantur,” which translates as “likes are cured by likes.”

Dhanush Artillery Guns
The first six indigenously built Dhanush artillery guns of a 114-piece order were handed over to the Indian Army by the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). The Dhanush artillery guns are upgraded versions of the Swedish 155-mm Bofors howitzers procured by India in the mid-1980s.
About Dhanush and its Indigenisation
Dhanush is a 155-mm, 45-calibre gun with a maximum range of 40 km in salvo mode (simultaneous discharge of artillery). These specifications make it deployable in both deserts and mountains. The Dhanush artillery gun has achieved an indigenisation level of about 81%, and it is projected that by the end of 2019, it will reach up to 91%.
